Colorectal cancer, also called colon cancer or bowel cancer, includes cancerous growths in the colon, rectum and appendix. Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from mushroom-like growths that are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.

Chemo-Induced Neuropathy

Hi,
My name is Patty and I'm a nurse working with the Neuropathy Team. The reason I'm writing it to make you aware of a neuropathy study I am leading that is geared toward colon cancer patients who are experiencing neuropathy. This study is focused on the use of vitamins, minerals and antioxdents that play a part in keeping the nervous system healthy.

I am looking for patients who have residual neuropathy caused by one of the following:

Taxol
Taxotene
Cisplatin
Oxaliplatinum

The patient must also be finished with chemo.

There is no cost to the patient; all study supplements and follow up phone calls are free of charge. Time investment by the patient is less than 10 minutes for each of the three months on the study.

Nurse Patty, My daughter had breast cancer and was on taxol. She had terrible neuropathy in her hands. She is a diabetic and she also had MRSA in one finger. Would you take a breast cancer patient in your studdy, or are you limiting it to colon cancer? I was recently treated with 5FU for rectal cancer, and don't have hand neuropathy, but do have throat neuropathy now that my treatments are over. Please contact me at puppyluv6@cox.net. Thank you.

Hi, I did email you but maybe it went to your junk mail instead. I have chemo induced neuropathy and am told that it is permanent. I finished my chemo last june..I was just wondering about your study and what would be involved..perhaps you could message me..kim

    I went to the doctor a while ago to see about my allergies. He rubbed my arm and stuck things under the skin. Nothing. He poked and prodded, his phlebotomist drew so much blood people thought that we were dating. The tests all came back negative. Then one day I went back and I told him that I had found the cause of my allergy.It turns out, I am allergic to betrayal.
