A sign language (also signed language) is a language which uses manual communication, body language and lip patterns instead of sound to convey meaning—simultaneously combining hand shapes, orientation and movement of the hands, arms or body, and facial expressions to express fluidly a speaker's thoughts. more at Wikipedia

I love communicating in sign! No more asking for repetion, no one asks me what's wrong, or points out my hearing problems, I just wish more people could sign.

Implanted kids are discouraged to sign, but recently our 3 year old son started showing more interest in sign and we're leaning in that direction. I just can't continue on without any form of language. We're in language limbo--lots of tantrums and frustration.
Our son is just now showing interest in signs. He has about 20 signs. It's discouraged by the cochlear implant specialists, but for us, it's a matter of daily survival.
