He is now on his second device...the first one was implanted when he was only 4 years old and the battery ran down after only 4 1/2 years because of the high settings.

The side effects escalated, becoming horrendous. I had it turned off 3 years ago when pain and numbness was shooting down my arm every time the unit fired.

A little devise that is connected to the vagus nerve to control bipolar/depression. Was passed by the FDA a year ago for depression.

Vasgal Nerve Stimulater is what the VNS is. Its like a pacemaker the way it goes in, then a wire on the inside of my neck to stimulate every 30 mins Look up VNS online.

Just had surgery last week for VNS. I'm SO scared this isn't going to work. Hopeful-have to be. Scared because this is the last resort. Doctors don't know what to do with me.

Surgery performed 4/7/2008. Hoping to decrease some meds in 6 mths to 1 year.
Considering
and qualified but not coverd cause i have to be knocked out
this freaks me out 2 but not as much as the idea of brain surgery
this is the next one that they want to do. They might be able to cut back my meds.
