I have been taking these since I went to see the neurologist 18 months ago iv gone from 50mg twice a day upto 150mg each time my migraines return most recent whilst at work yesterday. Went to the Drs and they have given me sumatriptan nasal sprays and almotriptan tabs the sprays I have had many times I have also had other nasal sprays. Each time medication works but only for a short time then they return I have now been suffering with them for 13 years.

I just started it to help me so I do not get as many migraines and have to take my relpax that cost 10.00 a pill and so far the Topamax helps on a little dose but I find the next day i am to groggy probably with taking my sleep medicine too. The Topamax would help if I did not have to take sleep medicine but the two together does not do it for me.

First medications given to me made me lethargic I gained 40 lbs and was depressed. When introduced to topamax I lost weight and felt good. The only issue I had was well i dont know how to describe it but i would in excess lose thoughts or words.

took for 18 monthes with increasing doses. would work for a short time then would stop. not worth the side effects. fuzzy thinking and forgetfulness.

I loved Topamax for a very long time but then I had acute mania and the doctors wanted me on a stronger mood stabilizer.

It works for me but it does hinder in mental processes which is a real drawback. However I have been unable to find a suitable alternative to manage my mood swings.
