Plasmapheresis is the removal, treatment, and return of (components of) blood plasma from blood circulation. It is thus an extracorporeal therapy. The method can also be used to collect plasma for further manufacturing into a variety of medications. more at Wikipedia

Working / Worked
Every 3 weeks I get plasmapheresis. This saved my life in 2000 and keeps me functioning today.
Of course it works it is the only thing that will!! I feel so good everytime after I get my treatments
Only rememeber first of five treatments,it was weird and a little uncomfortable, but I'm sure it helped me get well faster.
also helping
I didn't like the procedure and laying in one spot for along period of time. the nurses and staff were so nice to me and my family, so it helped me feel better having such nice people around me.
Working / Worked
I had to go through 2 cycles of plasmapheresis but it helped out so much.
I had to recieve this treatment during both of my stays in the hospital. The first was for six days and the other hospitalization required me to recieve it for 3 days. Its a long drawn out experience but it does work.
It worked for the time to regain mobility, but did nothing for the chronic pain I still have.
Worked, slowly everyday I would get something back. Even if it was movement of a toe...its still gave me hope that I would get better.
after the first treatment I could raise my hands the only things I felt from this were nausea and light headed
I had a treatment every other day for 5 days and repeated that 6 times.
Working / Worked
Have been gettin treatment for 2 months so far. Becos I am in the 5% where the antibodies are not showing in the blood they will not be too sure wether this working until another 2 months when they do another kidney biopsy on me.It does make me feel weak for a couple days after but i'm not sure wether it is because of the travelling to get this treatment done or not,all up i have now had 16 treatments with only 10 of them going all the way through effectively beacause i keep on clotting filters.
i think so was on for 5 days, verry sleepy, cold, poor appitite,
IT SUCKED! Everyday it was cold and gruesome and long. But it saved my life.
It worked when they would do it, but not totally. Just enough that I could walk again. I hated it!
