Dr. gives me Cephalexin when HS gets out bad and beyond help with home remedies. It always heals it but usually takes a week or better for all the symptoms and discomfort to disappear.

When I first began using Cephalexin it worked like a charm. Typically after beginning a course the flare would reduce seemingly overnight. However, as my HS has progressed the effect of the medication has reduced. The only side effect that I have experienced from the medication is a "bad-belly" (draw your own conclusions) I'm told that this side effect is due to the fact that an antibiotic not only kills the bad flora (bacteria) but also the good.

IT WORKS GREAT AT RELEIVING PAIN @ THE SITE & BOILS SEEM TO DRY UP AND OCCUR LESS FREQUENT. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY ADVERSE REACTIONS TO IT, BUT DISCOUNTINUED AFTER AWHILE. ONLY USE IT IN EXTREME CASES,i DON'T AGREE WITH TAKING LONG COURSES OF ANTIBIOTICS JUST.

I'm taking cephalexin 500MG by mouth 4 times a day for 10 days. It seems to be working.

I also have phlebitis. I take the Keflex for this. I really don't know if it's working or not.

I still have flare ups in groin and am just recently showing signs of flare up underarms again.

It does not help the HS but it has gotten rid of the infections that sometimes come with HS.

Helps a bit to take the sores down some, but never takes them away

My doc put me on this to ward off any bacterial infection of open blisters.

I've just been prescribed this on my non-surgery side.
