(also known as Endovascular Coiling)
Endovascular coiling was introduced by Guido Guglielmi at UCLA in 1991. It consists of passing a catheter into the femoral artery in the groin, through the aorta, into the brain arteries, and finally into the aneurysm itself. Once the catheter is in the aneurysm, platinum coils are pushed into the aneurysm and released... more at Wikipedia

It seemed to work. The headaches are still there at times. I was also diagnosed with Arnold Chiari Malformation, so symptoms are similar at times.

Working / Worked
Had severe headaches for several weeks, but doing great now.
Working / Worked
seems to be working so far.

One year later, they found another aneurysm larger than the first and I was a candidate for the coiling endoscopic surgery, which I have had two surgeries to coil. I also bled during the last surgery, was in a light coma and had convulsions during the coma, but still here to tell my story. I am now 38 years old. Also was told I would not be able to have any children, no labor, which was okay with me since I already had a son at that time. I am now a new mom to a baby girl named London!
Working / Worked
I had this done in 2007 as well. I was asked to do a study with it. I said sure whatever. I was just trying to get this surgery done and over with.
Working / Worked
seems to have worked short term memory,& ups & downs emotionally
Working / Worked
I suffer headaches daily, but I can't say they are definitely a result of the coiling.
Working / Worked
The coiling has worked so far. Can't say I enjoy having an annual angiogram to check on it but because of its location that's the most effective & recommended way.
Working / Worked
I had a 7.5 CM aortic Aneurysm repaired on 30 Jan 2008. I had to have an open procedure due to extra arterys on my kidneys so a stent was not an option. I'm still very weak and have lots of cramps and pain in my abdomen, looking for others who have been through this or going through it.
Working / Worked
The coiling worked. I will have to have MRI's to check on them for the rest of my life.
Working / Worked
went to three hospitals before getting treatment, i was out of it during ambulance and air flight, then i remember the rehab place a little and coming home 4 wks later
Working / Worked
Extremely successful, no residual side effects.
