while in sf attended al anon and found it very helpful. in hometown (very rural) attended coDA and al anon--less helpful, but am amazed at the level of honesty, sharing and support

Before the 12 Steps I was suicidal, couldn't quit drinking/drugging, my grown children wouldn't talk to me, I had no family, my only friends were alkies & druggies, I hate self & life. Today I have a great relationship with my family, I love life, and am a recovered alcoholic/addict.

Al-Anon. I've been there about 6 weeks. It helps to hear other peoples stories. To know I am not alone. To know that my fear and my anxiety come from a place where we all came from. It is helping me to get to know me.
