I've had a frustrating day …
I've had a frustrating day ! We were so busy at the clinic ! …
No plans are the best plans. I "planned" to have my grandbaby, Moira, yesterday. It was absolutely beautiful here -- clear sunny day. We would have had a lovely time at the park and then swimming in the afternoon. But I just couldn't pull myself out of bed early enough, though, so I missed my Moira.
Today, I made myself get out of bed at 7 and got on here at 7:15! Probably not the wisest choice. God should come first before I run to the computer, but I've missed reading you guys so. BUT, Gary said he'd take off this morning and we could pick Moira up from the daycare and take her to the zoo .... FINALLY! I've been wanting to go to the zoo since April! Will these "plans" be sabotaged? I'm praying now .... okay. This is the day that the Lord has made, and however it goes, I will remember that. Also thanked him for all of you and the common thread of love that binds us together.
Now, about that title! I love to read, but most of the books I read anymore are either on CFS or of a spiritual nature ... to learn and grow. Nothing wrong with that. But the only time I read for the sheer joy of reading is when I'm on vacation ... one week out of the entire year! That sucks. (Sorry, Lord) Well, I was finishing up my latest CFS book yesterday and the chapter was on The Body and Mind Connection .... Am I Crazy? I would love to type the entire chapter out for you guys, it was so right on and encouraging. Anyway, one of the things it pointed out is that we should do things that make us feel good, one of which is not to feel guilty about sitting on the couch and reading a book. Then I remember writing to Sweet Jasmine about one of my favorite authors, Jan Karon, and her delightul series "The Mitford Years". It is about the fictional town of Mitford, set in the hills of North Carolina. The main character is a 60-something yr old Episcopalian (sp?) priest named Father Tim Kavanaugh. Karon writes with immense creativity and weaves her faith into her stories. She is brilliant! She has me laughing one moment and in tears the next. So ... since I didn't have Moira and I was practicing good CFS habits, I unshelved the third book in the series that I had read halfway through on our last trip to Florida, sat out in the lovely sunshine yesterday and finished it! It was wonderful.
Now to the second part of the title. If you've been keeping up with my life, you know I recently moved my mom closer to me, in a new mobile home located in a quiet, mostly elderly, mobile home park. I've been getting sick, however, due to the new products in the home (carpet, vinyl, plastics, etc.) emitting formaldahyde fumes. So I finally get her an air purifier two days ago (thank you, Tracy, for the recommendation). But, in my laziness, I get the thing to her house, pull it out of the box, put it in the middle of her kitchen floor, plug it in and turn it on. I tell her "Mom, just keep it running for a few days and I'll come back and see if I can breathe any easier." Last night she calls me and says, "Hon, did you take the grill off in the back of that machine and remove the plastic cover on the filter? I'm reading the instructions and that's what they say you need to do when you set it up." Uh ... oops! Why can't things just be plug-and-play like computers?! "No, Mom, I didn't do that. Guess I should have read the instructions! Just turn it off and I'll come by tomorrow to do that." So this "air purifier" has been running with a plastic cover over the filter for two days. Doubt if it's doing much purifying!
Off to get ready for the zoo ....
Much love,
Rhonda :)
I've had a frustrating day ! We were so busy at the clinic ! …
This morning, at 11 a.m., a police officer walking his dog along a rock quarry discovered the body of what is now known …
off to have some fun with books every one should take a book brake and read a good book reading is fun you get to …
Gee Rhonda, there's a good story for the next "Book of Duh" doncha think???? lol
So happy you're going to the zoo. You sound every bit as excited as Moira will be. This is wonderful! I know how important time spent with her is to you! She is so precious.
And as for reading....do all the reading you can!! It's good for the mind and it stimulates us to be more creative...we can kind of escape into another place and it's very relaxing. Like you, I mostly read CFIDS books...but I did finally finish the Bible this year...all the way through in the NIV version.
I'm starting over with the King James now.
Anywho....reading is good, do it!!
Enjoy the rest of your day with Moira. love ya!! Hugssssssssssssss

I think you sent your beautiful Wednesday to NC so it would arrive here and be our beautiful Thursday! Thanks:) Hope you had fun at the zoo! Your book sounds great! And I think Darla may be right about you having a good 'duh' story when it comes to you setting up the purifier!
