I suppose you're tired of hearing about mom, so I'll write about other stuff going on here.
Went to the fourth of the four graduation parties this evening. I love my friends, but we've spent a truckload on their kids grad gifts! That's okay, because next year it's OUR turn (our son will be, or I should say, now is a Senior). Okay, that was bad. But I'm allowed!
Now for the good side of me. My good friend, Debbie, who we celebrated a one-year cancer-free party with a few months ago was rushed to the E.R. by her husband, Don, earlier this week with intense stomach pain and vomiting. After several diagnoses, it was determined she has a blockage in her colon (where the cancer was removed) and she will be having surgery tomorrow morning at 9 am to determine the causeof the blockage and to remove it. They will begin with a scope procedure (preferred), but if that doesn't work, she will literally get cut open hip to hip. So, if you would, at 9:00 tomorrow morning (or whenever is convenient for you) please lift our friends, Don & Debbie, up in prayer. Thank you.
Went to see my Pulmonary Specialist yesterday (Dr. Cutie, but he is a good doc). When I saw him two months' ago, he wanted to switch my meds from Klonopin to the new drug Sonata, as well as refer me to a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. I never heard from the pharmacy or the therapist's office, and called to tell him so about three weeks ago. He was surprised when I told him yesterday that I still had not heard from either. He called both, right there in the exam room, and made the request again. I failed to tell him that I often take the phone off the hook in the morning until my brain fog clears, and sometimes forget to put it back on the hook. Oops. Thought that was probably why I never heard from either one. Went to the pharmacy to pick up the Sonata last night, and they told me it was still not approved by my insurance. My insurance sucks (there goes the bad part of me again) but it's true. My suspicion is that since the drug is new, there's not a generic equivalent yet, so my crappy insurance won't pay for the real stuff. It is pretty pricey though -- the pharmacist said about $224 for 30 pills! Ouch. I'm gonna call Dr. Cutie on Monday and tell him the story. Let him fight with my insurance.
Anywho, that's about it. Still helping mom sort through stuff. The ultimate after-move experiene will happen on June 7th .... YARD SALE! Community-wide yard sale in the mobile home park she lives in. Woo-hoo. Is my life exciting or what??!!
Much love,
Rhonda :)

I know I haven't written for ages but my health has been taking alot of my time. Here is just the last two …
I'ts Sunday morning and I have already lifted up your friends in prayer as you requested.
Not tired of hearing about mom. It's like you've got another child now...I'll be expecting lots of mom stories..some funny, some downright aggravating, but I sooooooo get where you are right now.
The yard sale should be interesting. Is mom able to care for herself with things like that, I mean like count change and organize...or will you be in charge of pretty much everything from here on out???
Praying that all of this can be put into some sort of perspective for you Rhonda.
Hope hubby and rest of family are well.
Love you, hang in there.....talk to doc again about meds, you gotta sleep!!!
Hugssssssssssss

UPDATE ON MY FRIEND DEBBIE: God is good! And so is prayer! Surgery went well ... scope was successful and doc was able to locate and remove blockage. And here's the best part ... doc said there was an indentation on her small intestine where something had been wrapped tightly around it, causing most of the pain. It had "mysteriously" loosed itself in the 24 hrs prior to the surgery, because it showed up on x-ray the day before. Because it was gone, they were able to do the scope successfully. PRAYER WORKS!! Thank you all :)
