Journal Entry for June 8, 2008
It has been almost 3 weeks since my last journal entry. What time I have had to be online and DS I have spent trying to answer messages and sending …
I am a former engineer who turned to fulltime ministry after being laid off due to downsizing in 2004. My wife of nineteen years and I have a blended family of five adult children and seven grand children. Officially diagnosed in February of 2007 and began tx on June 1. I had to discontinue tx in October due to a serious illness that put me in the hospital for four weeks. I serve as pastor at a small rural Christian church in central Illinois. My spouse Vickey is my best friend, lover and partner for life. She has seen me through cancer, numerous vision threatening eye problems, HCV tx, and most recently, pneumonia. I look forward to each evening after she arrives home from work and we can sit together, talk and share our days. I can honestly say my heart still skips a beat when I see her after a long day.
I play guitar, and love to listen to all types of music but my favorite is contemporary Christian music. I enjoy meeting and getting to know people. I love sub teaching in the area schools in particularly middle school and high school. I believe my faith should be reflected in how I live and how I treat others. That is how I strive to live my life.

Following a biopsy of a lump on the left side of my neck, I was diagnosed with throat cancer that originated in the left tonsil. Had a disection and tonsilectomy in April 1997. left tonsil, and three lymph nodes were positive for malignancies. Follow-up with seven weeks of radiation treatments of both sides and my upper chest. Declared cured in 2002 after five years. Still cancer free at last check-up. Dry mouth due to only one functional saliva gland.
