Letter to the Editor

I am a Special Education Teacher working with bilingual children with learning disabilities. I absolutely love what I do; it is both rewarding, but at the same time quite challenging. I teach the students reading strategies to make them more successful with their academics. I knew I would be able to provide children with a unique understanding and acceptance of their learning differences, challenges, and shortcomings.
My interests include swimming, reading, listening to music, hanging out with close friends, traveling, road trips, and most importantly, spending quality time with my husband, JT, my own Personal SuperHero.

I am a 35-year old woman living with multiple sclerosis now for 14 years. I was diagnosed the summer before my Junior Year of college. I had yet to declare a major, and thus hearing my possible diagnosis, chose Education in case I would not ever be capable of having children of my own. For the first ten years I showed relatively no signs of the disease. I began walking with a cane 5 years ago, and now for about the past year, a walker. My MS has progressed over the past year and a half.
