About Me
I have RA, Fibromyalgia & I'm Bipolar plus being overweight!! I had to stop working over a year ago, haven't been accepted for SSD yet.(so I am also BROKE) LOL My mother passed away 2 yrs ago, this is sounding like a bad made for TV movie. I guess life is never easy, especially for some of us. I think God is trying to get my attention and only recently have I actually been hearing Him. I am currently trying to get on disability, if anyone has experience with this process they would like to share, please do so!!
Interests
I love reading, swimming, my 6 dogs (they are my heart!) I am pretty much at home ALL the time , I can't work, I have a lot of pain physically and mentally I go from high to low in an instant! I am hoping to meet others with some of my same experiences so we can be here for each other. I don't have much of a network of friends locally so I am very hopeful that I will develop some friendships here and be able to offer my experience, strength and hope.

Close Bipolar Disorder
I'm pretty sure I have been bipolar all my life but I wasn't diagnosed until 1999,I am now 44. I am a rapid cycler, I can go from a super high to the darkest depression in a matter of minutes. Worst part is I don't usually see it. I've lost jobs, friends, & family and made very poor decisions about various parts of my life because of this untreated disease. Long story short, I am on meds, getting therapy finally & really trying to learn how to help myself and like myself.
Treatments
- Lithium Working / Worked
- I am still working on getting the dosage right but it helps level me out.
- Lamictal Working / Worked
- Only been taking it a month. I think I see a change for the better. It is hard to tell since I cycle so fast, but my highs and lows aren't as extreme lately.
- Xanax Working / Worked
- I just take it at night to try and quiet my thoughts so I can sleep.
- Trazodone Working / Worked
- Another night time only med, just trying to get some peace in my sleep. When I can sleep that is.
- Lunesta Not Working
- Wow! Gives you an awful metallic taste that lasts all day plus I didn't get to sleep any easier the 2 weeks I tried it.
Close Rheumatoid Arthritis
Treatments
- Celebrex Not Working
- Humira Not Working
- Gave myself the shots for almost a year but my disease only progressed, it didn't even slow it down.
- Methotrexate Working / Worked
- Makes you nauseous, a lot of my hair have fallen out. You loose weight on it though because you are nauseated for days after taking it. I take 8 of 2.5mg tabs 1 x wk.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- More side effects, puffiness, round face, weight gain, MOOD SWINGS! But it helps otherwise I would stop taking it.
- Remicade Working / Worked
- Started the IV treatments in Sept 06, by Jan 07 I am seeing good improvement. Thank God!!
Open Fibromyalgia
I was diagnosed with Fibro same time I was told of the RA. Double whammy! My legs and arms are the most affected, I am so tired, exhausted really almost all the time but I can't sleep to save my life! I use a cane, also a walker if I am in really bad shape. Dr has written RX for one of those scooter things but I don't want it. I keep thinking I am going to beat this....say a prayer for me if you are inclined to. I will return the favor!
Treatments
- Zanaflex Working / Worked
- Pretty good muscle relaxant, but doesn't last long.
- Cyclobenzaprine Somewhat Helpful
- Didn't help enough after a few months.
- Naproxen Somewhat Helpful
- Works a bit, but you also have to take a prescription so you don't get a gastric ulcer from using this medication.
