You brace yourself for the time to come...but you are never ready...
My Aunt called today and told me that my grandmother was transported from the hospital and placed in hospice. The doctors said now its only a matter of time and they are doing everything they can to make her comfortable.
I am crushed. Simply crushed.
I knew this day would come...I dreaded it. Hospice. Not her own bed.
This especially hits me hard because my great grandmother is my only family. She was the only one in my life that from when I was little to now offered me shelter from life's cruelty, understood me and loved me without reseveration. When she finally lets go...its over. Thats it. No more.
I am so crushed. I am so selfish. She's about to take a journey...leave this mortal form and just float...and here I am sobbing because I am losing my best friend.

I'm so sorry Rea. You're not being selfish hon, you're hurting and dealing with the imminent loss of someone who you love and loves you back. You have every right too feel sad and devastataed. Take solace in the fact that Hospice will provide her with wonderful, loving care because they definitely will. You take care of you - cry as much as you need to but without guilt. I'm so sorry!! I can't even begin to imagine what you are going thru. You have a right to be hurt.. you will have to continue on life's journey without your grandmother. Try to take solace in the fact that one day you will be reunited with her. I know that probably doesn't help... when I lost my babies so many people said that to me and it didn't help to take away the heartbreak I was feeling.
All I can really say is I'm so so sorry!
