"Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work: you don't give up." – Anne Lamott
Yesterday was my Grammie’s birthday. She would have been 90. Like Aunt Dee promised she called me yesterday to check in. It was good hearing from her despite the fact I was really missing Grammie. In honor of her birthday I made hamburger soup. It is a hearty soup yet simple that was one of the favorite things she would make. When I was working at a tanning salon near her home she would bring me up bowls of it for dinner along with big fat pieces of Italian or French bread with butter. She called that type of bread “hunky bread” so named for the hunks you cut off. Clients who came into the tanning salon were tickled to pieces by my Grandmother who would come to visit. A particular Client owned a bakery and noticed the bread my Grammie had brought me. From then on in when this Client came to tan I would get two loafs of fresh baked bread and garlic butter. Oh! Heaven!!! I would always drop some off at my Grammies house after work, visited some, and headed home. My Grammie from then on in purchased from that bakery her “hunky bread” and even shared the recipe to her soup which the bakery started to serve. Hmm…I wonder if they still serve it?
Today again I got up with Husband. I slept very deep and felt most refreshed aside from the sinus headache I have been battling all day. We went to get gas for the car, a paper and popped by a new Dollar Tree they put in. I got a small piggy bank for my laundry room so I can collect all the loose change I find. He looks so cute sitting on top of my washer! Husband and I then went exploring. When I say exploring I mean we go down winding roads we never been, look at beautiful houses we never knew were there and eventually we end up in the places we know.
We got home, had some left over hamburger soup for lunch and husband laid down for a nap. I managed to get my paper done and I worked on the video. Then I spent some time clipping coupons and reading the paper. Now I am sorta bored and want to go to the Dallas Museum of Art but alas my sinuses are killing me! I am thinking about doing a sinus rinse and see where that takes me. I hope it doesn’t make me worse!
Tonight for dinner its almond chicken rice with corn on the cob. Oh, and I have to look up some good trail mix recipes that are suitable for diabetics as husband loves trail mix! :)
I hope everyone is well!

Your Grammie was one of those special people who's love lives on forever. I can tell you have a lot of her in you.
Almond chicken rice sounds lovely.
Have you already tried the Neti pot? I've always been curious. Living on the edge of the desert has always caused severe allergies for me. Blocked up sinuses are just part of my existence. If you do try the Neti pot and have success, be sure to let me know. :)

I actual did a lot of research on the neti pot vs this squeeze bottle thing. I ended up going to Walgreens and getting the kit with the squeeze bottle and the saline solution. Inside the kit you can get a free dock and a free neti pot for filling out the survey they have! :D I have been working with the NeilMed Sinus Rinse bottle and so far so good. It feels great once you get the hang of it. As for long term use...I just started so I will get back to ya! :D
