"Life is like music; it must be composed by ear, feeling, and instinct, not by rule."
– Samuel Butler

I know I haven’t written in a little bit and for that I am so very sorry! Things have been busy here. I am week long into my course and we got a new fridge to replace the old one that’s going out. Husband didn’t get teacher of the year (as we knew he wouldn’t) because he lost it to the guitar playing art teacher. So, I did something extra special for Husband. I handmade him a card and hid it in his briefcase for him to discover, that evening I made a special dinner, and let him relax all evening while I handled the stuff that needed to be done. He wasn’t disappointed in the least as he knows often times good work often goes unrewarded and that the true reward is the kids he teaches who go on with a solid work ethic, better communication skills, and an appreciation for the things they have. Still, I wanted him to know I am always proud of him! :)

I finished up all my reading assignments; posted my essay, replied to a classmates work and now I am taking a break. Tonight I will review some things, tomorrow take my practice test and Tuesday my actual test only to start the process all over again.

Husband and I have been cooking up a storm! We have been making homemade soups for the summer that we package and freeze for quick meals. Vegetable and Beef Soup, Chili and Chicken and dumplings is what we will be grabbing for quickie meals this summer. It’s just easier that way. Texas gets so hot and sometimes I just don’t feel like cooking so Husband will grab some soup, have a salad and he is happy. Which honestly is fine by me! :)

I have started a couple side projects to keep my hands busy. I am hand making some handkerchiefs and embroidering them. So far so good! A wonderful friend of mine found some scrapbooking paper on sale in the theme that I have my book of shadows. So she purchased a whole pad- something like 50 sheets with all different designs. I am excited because I was almost out of the paper and needed more. She sent that to me along with miscellaneous things she thought I could use for different projects. Different colors of felt, color variation embroidery floss, a fabric marker, miscellaneous cute buttons, fabric scissors, and safety pins. Hmmm so many different supplies I can do loads of things! I sent her a hand written thank you card and will be sending her a few handkerchiefs with her initials on them. She will be tickled pink!

That reminds me…have you noticed the art of letter writing is almost nonexistent? It’s sad really. I personally correspond with several friends via snail mail. I get a letter about  every other week. I make most of the stationary I use with different designs or its remaining stationary I already have. I enjoy it a lot. My late Grammie my whole life sent me cards and letters. I guess that’s where I got it because I would always do the same with her. When she died it went silent and then suddenly my friends started to write me letters. I guess they knew and understood that was something I enjoyed greatly. What’s funny is now they are into it in every aspect right down to their handwriting. Some have special pens and others special paper. Some went out and bought card stock for which they asked me to teach them some techniques on making their own cards. It’s turned out to be quite fun for all and it makes me so happy to see that they were so ready and willing to share my passion. I am so blessed.

Ok time for me to stop rambling. I hope all of you are well!

Wow, you are really busy! And, from my experience the cool, guitar playing art teacher, who does about 1/16 of the work I do, always gets the award! It's all good, I am not in it for the paper or hardware rewards!

You sounds so happy and up beat in this journal entry, while reading I couldn't help but feel your contentment. I love doing projects, and I wish I could make cards, but sadly I can be a perfectionist, and if I can't do something perfect I tend to quit. I'm really going to have to work on that.
