"The power of imagination makes us infinite."
– John Muir

Today Husband and I went to run some small errands and had a bit of lunch. It was a really nice day. We stopped by a little shop so I could get stationary. As I walked by a card wrack one caught my eye. It was a mother’s day card geared towards a grandmother. I scanned over the front and had to hold back the tears. Without a thought and without opening the card for fear of crying I grabbed it and put it in my pile to purchase.

I am not sure if I mentioned this before but about two weeks or so earlier I was going through some things and found a card I was going to send to Grammie last year but she was in the hospital. I had read it to her and she said for me to send it to her next year. It was bitterly sweet to find that card…and even more so this one because it says everything I would want to say to her right here and now.

I would like to share:

For my Grandmother: A Mother’s Day Prayer
By Emily Matthews

Dear Lord,

Please bless my grandmother in such a way that she’ll know within her heart that someone prayed for her today. She’ll know she’s loved and cared for and have such a sense of peace that her days will all be happy and her blessings increase.

(Open the card)

I said a prayer for you today, the way I often do, I asked the Lord to fill your days with joys and blessings, too, I asked him to be close to you and hear you when you call- and give to you life’s sweetest gifts, for you deserve them all. Happy mother’s day with love.

So, I got home and waited for Husband to go out to mow. I lit a candle and read the card out loud so that perhaps my words could float up to her and she will know she is always in my thoughts. I signed the card and sealed it shut. I tucked it away in a box of poems and papers. Perhaps I will come across it again someday or perhaps my own granddaughter (if I have one) will happen upon it- perhaps it will fill in that silence that has been left.

I hope all of you have a wonderful and blessed Mother's Day! :)

~Bright Blessings~
