Sorry it has been so long since I have posted anything or gotten back to all my sweet friends on here! I started having problems with my health about a month or so ago. I am still in the process of finding out what is going on with me. I woke up one morning with a sudden burning, shooting pain that ran up the back of my neck on the left side then later on that day developed painful cold and burning fingers with no discoloration. Also severe pain in my left forearm and shoulder off and on, my fingers have been numb since then. I drop things all the time because I can't feel if I am still holding anything with my hand, I can't make out objects when I feel them. I have had chronic pain for the last yr with my neck because of bulging disc. Now, I have chronic pain there as well and getting more and more painful knots that can be felt in my muscles in upper back and neck. I went to my Dr. and she thinks it is "Radiculopathy" causing symptoms and am still waiting to see a Neurosurgeon. She noted decreased strength in my grip L. hand. She also mentioned doing a doppler on me as well. I am not sure anymore if it is just cervical disc problem or heart problem. My blood pressure recently started going up this week, it was 176/ 115 yesterday and I get tired easy and short of breath. My father died at 42 from heart disease and had his first heart attack at 36! So, as unlikley as it may seem, I am starting to wonder if it could be something like that. I called my Dr. yesterday to let her know what is going on and am waiting on her call. My pain has gotten so severe that she prescribed me Lortab 10/650 every 8 hrs as needed for pain and I can't even get to 4 hrs without the pain becoming severe again. She said that we might try the fentanyl patch if this doesn't work. She doesn't like prescribing longer acting meds like methadone or oxycodone and I can understand that, I just wish we could get better pain relief, I even tried percocet and it didn't touch the pain, I know its crazy but Hydrocodone works better for me than that, it just wears off quickly. Sometimes I am scrared I am going to damage my liver taking so much. I will try to get back on here later today and write to my friends. Have a great day. If you have any responses of advice please let me know.
Wish I were a doctor and could just order up something and take away your pain. Radiculopathy sounds more reasonable than a heart condition.... the way you are describing the pain and the symptoms and decreased grip. So sorry you are having so much pain. I know the doctors don't want to see us get "hooked" on things, but sometimes for short periods, stronger meds are indicated. After my husband almost broke his neck, he was on Oxycodone for about three months, then he had to go on Methadone to get off the Oxycodone. It was quite interesting. Then he had to wean slowly off the Methadone. The whole process took almost a year. Quite a mess. Anyway, I am so glad you finally got back on here and wrote in your journal. I have no magic pill, like I wish I did, but I will pray that God will help ease your pain and that your doctors will be able to help you get this under control. Love, Darla
