146 Days of LDN
I talked with my doctor this morning. She called both my work and cell phone. This is different from most doctors and I assume this type of enthusiasm will eventually fade.
Anyway, she wanted to discuss the x-rays with me. Apparently, everything looks great except for my hands which have some erosion. At four months into no treatment with RA I had some erosion then, as well, so it makes me wonder if more has occurred or what. I could have asked I suppose, but I was driving and concentrating on the idiot occurances around me, as well as her constant chatter.
She wants me to get more x-rays! Ha, I thought that was funny! Of course I can't right now anyway because of insurance, but I found her x-rays a bit excessive. This time she wants it of my hip region, I think she called it lumbar region, (which I believe is against protocol because you want to preserve ovaries as much as possible). I didn't respond to her request except to tell her about insurance. I will tell her in the future that no, I won't get those x-rays.....that is, if I see her again.
I am still sero-negative with my RA factor which is baffling to her. Yet my other doctor had told me this was good news and meant I would have less chance of deformity. Thank God I had that other doctor!!!
She told me in a nut shell, a big NO on the Minocycline because she went to some school of Rheumatology, (is this the part where I should feel impressed?) anyway, and what she was taught was that you could only administer Minocycline in the beginning of RA, not after I've had it for two years. I'd like to hear what Marcia says on this one. Of course, when I hear a no, I'm not big into arguing. I always sort of assess the situation. I think one of two things....I'll either do this without them (get a new doctor), change my mind (try something else), or change their mind....later. I guess I think of people as rolling balls heading in a certain direction. I can't seem to get her to roll forward on the Minocycline idea, so for now, there's not much that I feel that I can do. And I'm not sure what my plan is. I know that I'm going to try the new enzyme and I'll sort of see where I go from there. I also know that I may change doctors. As well, if I do feel firmly on trying Minocycline, then I may just refuse to start any new drug. And then what will she have? It's funny, she simply can't force these drugs down my throat. Boy, if doctors could, we'd all be in trouble!
I also feel way better than I use to. I've noticed a persistant change in the way I feel.......I don't know if it was the temporary sulfasalazine or if it's the large amount of supplements I take everyday and have taken for about two months now.
As well, pain is mostly in my feet lately. According to natural healing, your feet are the last to be healed because they are furthest away from your most vital organs, (heart, lungs, brain, etc.), so it makes me wonder if that's what is happening.
I'm still waiting for the enzyme to come in the mail and looking forward to it.
I hope everyone is doing great! Have a great weekend!

I don't buy what your rhuemie said Sarah. Since you are showing a negative RA factor you are indeed a candidate for the minocycline. It says that if you catch your RA in the beginning before much deformity then it can stop further deformity. I would be insistent on getting the antibotic and explain it is your bosy and that you have friends who have had great success with it. It is now an accepted theraphy and I would tell her it is your body. If she still refuses I would consider a different doctor. I am not sure why she wants so many x rays. My doc takes them once a year and not necessarily that often unless I am having problems. That part makes me scratch my head. Well at least you are feeling some releif and i am glad for that. The doc who discovered antbotics is named Mcpherson, you can get his book at the library! love, marcia

Maybe you can get both sets of xrays and have someone compare, to see if you have further erosion. Zero RA, little erosion, feeling good all sounds like a good time to be a candidate for the minocycline. Observing from the sidelines, of course. I haven't had additional xrays on my hands since my onset, but really don't think I need them. I've been hit so many times on my abdomen, however, that I don't think I've even GOT any ovaries now. My lungs, too, and another round of each in the next week.
Interesting note about feet being last to heal. There are a couple of other significant considerations: 1) a point that Marcia has made several times is the number of bones and complexity of structure in your feet, and the other is that they are your foundation. Your entire weight is borne by your feet.
Hope you have a good weekend, too.

Hmm, I dunno, I have Dr. O'Conor, he's on Arroyo and I can't get my Plaquenil filled when I run out-it's been so frustrating, that's why I was thinking of changing to yours-I think I would welcome more x-rays and stuff, at least it's proactive right? Mine doesn't do anything! The only other one I've heard of is Dean Noritake on Washington in Pasadena, might wanna check him out, I heard he's pretty good-good luck! J
