Personal trainer. I like to hang out with my friends, watch T.V. etc. Play volleyball once a week and enjoy taking meetings to detox's, rehab's, etc. Married for 1 year now but we've been together for a lot longer than that. Wife is very supportive and we get along great now that I don't use any drugs(hmm, imagine that). She works her own alanon program.

Hope you have a good weekend. I haven't heard from you and wonderded what was going on. Insurance sux man, all around. Just be thankful you don't have to deal with the VA LOL. My EX's Insurance used to be fantastic and now it sucks and she's an Administrator at a Hospital, neither here nor there but it's a national thing. Brusing and stuff are fairly normal on those drugs I've been told and since you work out a lot and are active I wouldn't worry. I know that all that you've been through in a year seems rough, but you are doing some rough meds Bro' Hit me up sometime, when you find time in your busy schedule. LOL....

I was taking alpha lipoic after TX but I hear that it helps with the interferon big time. I wish I had starting taking it earlier. The herbalist at the health food store told me it works with the interferon and actually makes it more effective to the TX. Thanks for the info, I'll have to read his book.

I have a 26 year old NYC fashion daughter who is always busting my chops for not knowing all of the new words etc etc..am I supposed to????I was trying to figure out what KIT was short for which guys name. Contacted Hep. C in 2000. Had for 7 years. Am pro-active w/ my health and want to beat this disease.
Close Alcoholism
Been to 10 plus treatment centers. 32 years old. Tried working the steps, then just going to meetings. Tried long term treatment centers(6 plus months)and/or jails. Only when the pain became great enough did I do something different(no resolution to stop, but a decision to to work the steps to the best of my ability). By God's grace and working w/others, this real alcoholic/dope fiend has almost a year clean(w/o jail).
Treatments
- 12 Step Program Working / Worked
- Have done 3 4th steps in my year of recovery. Practice 10,11,and 12 daily. Did this even before I was oficially there(started on day 1). Works great. The only thing that has worked for me.
- AA Meetings Working / Worked
- The meetings alone didn't work but w/ the 12 steps they did. I'm always going to hang out w/ addicts so they might as well be clean.
- Detox Working / Worked
- After detoxing 50 plus times only to go back, have 11 months only by working the steps as if my life depended on it. 2 weeks w/o sleep, sweating, seizures, throwing up, diaharrea, chills but sweating, etc.
- Naltrexone Not Working
- Didn't work and real expensive. I would take the naltrexone at night, go through withdrawls, then use 1st thing when I awoke. Did this cycle for a while and it was awful. Didn't adress the spiritual malady which is why I use to begin with, TO FEEL O.K.
- Residential Treatment Center Somewhat Helpful
- Didn't work. Everybody has a sad story, that's not why I'm an addict. I JUST AM. Can be helpful to get ur mind right so you can work the steps(safe environment).
- Trazodone Working / Worked
- It's alright for 1-2 weeks but lack of sleep never killed anyone. Statistics show that people who take sleep med's have a lower chance of long term sobriety. It's just a crutch. Changes the way you feel.
- Willpower Not Working
- My willpower is non existant when it comes to alcohol/drugs. No matter how bad it gets I forget and go back so I can feel that ease and comfort of that 1st. one. Can't remember the 100th one and how bad it really is.
- Suboxone Somewhat Helpful
- This stuff is just a crutch. Dr.'s want you to be on it a year to prolong the inevitable(withdrawls). Take it a week or 2, rapidly decrease your dose during this time, then take one week off then jump on naltrexone to kick off any remainding opiates clinging to your receptors. You'll feel better quicker, be drug free, and off that $6 a day suboxone habit the drug companies like you to be on. By the way, you don't want to have sex when when your on the suboxone. Fun Huh!
Open Cocaine Addiction & Recovery
Used all my life. Clean for almost a year. Been to many many institutions, not just jails but rehab's, etc. Had many seizures. Thought they were just normal. Work the steps now, no half assing. I'm all in now.

Open Heroin Addiction & Recovery
Used different drugs, seperately and together. Did the yo yo thing. Been to more treatments in more states than I can count. Jails, etc. Just partying dude. Yea right. Clean for about a year now, I've tried everything to get clean.

- Naltrexone Somewhat Helpful
- A crutch. Used on top of it. Very painful if you don't wait 10 days after using to take. I was screaming and in agony. I'm lucky I didn't die.
- Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Working / Worked
- It's allright. Good people. I like the Big Book better than the NA book. If the problem's the same, then the solutions the same.
- Residential Treatment Center Somewhat Helpful
- Works while in there. The best treatment center is the one you get sober at.
- Suboxone Somewhat Helpful
- I meant suboxone when I wrote under subutex.
- Subutex Somewhat Helpful
- Did a fast 1 week taper. I'm glad I didn't stay on it a year like psyc's wanted. Then I'd just have to kick in the far future. It's a crutch, but it is a little easier letdown. Kicking still sucks though.
