Hi Pesky, I know it sounds as if it is taking away her dignity, but it really is in her best interest. My Mum was in a care home. She had a fall, wnt in to hospital. When she went back to the home, they put her on a high bed. She was only 4ft 10", she fell trying to get out of bed and ended up back in hospital, the home said they couldn't take her back but she died shortly after that. Wish I'd sued them now. Yes I would say give it a go, her safety is more important.

Hey Peskygnat - thanks for the 'words of wisdom' - and I am so with you on taking care of a mom with dementia ... my mom was diagnosed with cardiovascular dementia in 98 ... dementia caused by lots and lots of mini-strokes. It's TOUGH. You're a true gentleman and hero for standing by your mom and being there for her. It's NOT easy! You're in my prayers!

thanks for the poem very touching especially now as my mom is slipping away further right now and we are playing the medication game.i am looking for a specialist as the shrink i was referred to cant find a middle between her increased aggression and making her blotto and even unable to walk.has to be a middle ground doesnt there sue

I can feel your pain. I am 42 years old and I am taking care of my mother who is 78 years old. she is suffering from dementia also. back in early January she went through a right side masectomy. she started going down hill after her third time on chemo. she has lost a lot of weight. about 60 lbs since april. by time she goes to the doctor next month she probaly will have lost more. she does not eat much when she eats. I buy her those protien shakes to keep her nurshied but she wont finish them.
