About Me
As I learned more about bi-polar my life made much more sense and I finally understood what "was wrong" with me. Running is the best therapy ever for me - I listen to music and can just let go - I literally feel my brain relax and calm down. Reading, studying, and working also help to "quiet the monkeys in my head" a phrase from eat, love, and pray (quite a good read) It is still tough, but I pledge to give it my best shot everyday.
Interests
I love art, books, and music (everything from jazz, alternate, R&B, classic rock, pink floyd, all depends on ever swinging mood

Close Bipolar Disorder
I was diagnosed 3 years ago at age 41 during a manic phase with psychotic features. I remember exactly justifying everything - it was very hard to return to work, never knowing if and how my behavior may be guided by this new found illness. I have learned to manage and even accept it - but there is an element of great uncertainty and fear of being hospitalized again.
Treatments
- Depakote Working / Worked
- Horible experience - I felt like all feeling was drained from me, I functioned like a robot, mechanical as if an emotional switch was completely turned off.
- Running Working / Worked
- Regular excercise is very important for my well-being. Without it I have episodes of feeling restless or sluggish/sad - it really seem to channel my energy
- Fish Oil Somewhat Helpful
- Not as much of an impact - but definitely makes a difference in overall well-being
- Sleep Working / Worked
- Most Important
- Lamictal Working / Worked
- Fabulous - I've started it 6 mos ago - no side effects,
