Gail the stalks of the plant look a bit like celery except they are a redish color. You cook the stalks with sugar because they are very tart. My mom would cook them up with sweet strawberries and serve it in a dish or over ice cream. Some people make pie out of the rhubard alone or with strawberries. My husband loves this stuff because he grew up with it too.
