About Me:
family, friends, movies, and gardening have gotten me through some tough times. i'm a laid back person, who wants to see more of the world. traveling more, and spontaneous road trips with no predetermined destination are two things i want so badly to do, once i can overcome my social anxiety. i also enjoy gardening during the spring and summer. gardening is a passion of mine, and is very rewarding for me. i just recently picked up on the hobby of photography, and of course, those who know me, know i love iced coffee. i have social anxiety/shyness, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (my ocd has faded this past year), and generalized anxiety disorder. My journal is my story and my journey.

Support Groups

 Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
OCD took control of me in early April 2002. Diagnosed, April 8th, 2002. I've worked very hard to overcome it, and I've had success. At one point, my ocd was so severe, my contamination ocd was in complete control, and I couldn't open doors or turn on the hot or cold water faucets. To do so, I would use a clean paper towel, or clean shirt. lots of hard work and determination. OCD no longer controls me.
Treatments
 exposure therapy (Working / Worked)
 prayer (Working / Worked)
 schedule change (Working / Worked)
i began changing around my schedule, so that it wasn't repetitive. the smallest changes in my schedule, proved to help me tremendously in my battle to control my ocd.
 movies (Working / Worked)
i used movies as a way to escape from anxiety caused by my ocd. a good movie, would sometimes be enough distraction to get me focused on other things.
 gardening (Working / Worked)
when my ocd was severe, gardening gave me something to do, to get my mind off of the anxiety caused by ocd. i love gardening

if i feel anxiety coming on, i talk to my mom, sister, or niece (when we're in public places)talking distracts me from the oncoming anxiety, and i am able to focus again.
