It's a rainy day in Maine. I am feeling so excited for so many of you out there! What a journey we are all on.
I wanted to share the preface to a wonderful children's book I am reading-- The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane--It goes like this:
The heart breaks and breaks
and lives by breaking.
It is necessary to go
through dark and deeper dark
and not to turn.
The quote is by Stanley Kunitz.
Anyhow, I feel like these words, give expression to a lot of how I am feeling.
I also wanted to share with you a few things I read in the book Women' Bodies, Women's Wisdom. They are from a list of pieces that were essential to to a woman healing and grieving her still born baby (she later had a healthy baby girl!)
-crying with people
-notes and letters from people who have experienced loss themselves
-creating a "shrine" of important gifts, notes, photos, and rememberences
-getting back into shape
-being outside
-reading books and handouts about grief (a friend sent me a really good one about grief in general by elisabeth kubler-ross it's nice to read in pieces)
I am sure that most of us immerse ourselves in most of these things, but it's good to feel like I am on the right path.
Be well everyone.
