    • Close Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

I have had stomach problems off and on for years. Last spring my current dr. ran tests, could find nothing wrong and believes I have IBS. I go for several weeks and feel fine, then all of a sudden feel crappy. This is where I am now. I believe stress is a factor. I am currently trying to figure out what foods set me off. I hate this.

      Treatments

      Acidophilus Somewhat Helpful
I've read that this will introduce good bacteria in the digestive system, and to me that makes sense
Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Too Soon to Tell
Fresh raw veggies; spicy foods such as chiles; high fat foods such as bacon, seem to be a factor
      Chamomile Working / Worked
I have been drinking chamomile tea for a long time, usually in the evening. It soothes and relaxes me so I can sleep.
      Colace Working / Worked
I have to use this several times a week to keep my bowel movements regular
      Ginger Working / Worked
This really does soothe my stomach for a time
      Prayer Working / Worked
Prune juice, nasty as it is, is my friend. Not to bad if it is icy cold and chugged. I drink an 8 oz glass 3-4 times a week and it generally loosens things up.
      Probiotics Working / Worked
This really does help, the commercials are right! I eat one at least every other day. And they are delicious!
    • Close Sciatica

I felt a muscle in my lower right back pop a few weeks ago when reaching for a snow shovel, of all things...it gradually developed into sciatica in my right leg. Some days are better than others...sometimes those "other" days hold excrutiating pain. Would appreciate any hints for treatment.

      Treatments

      Ibuprofen Somewhat Helpful
It will dull the pain for a while. Hate to take too much because I also have IBS
      Stretching Somewhat Helpful
Sometimes walking helps alleviate the pain
      Tylenol Working / Worked
Use the extra strength, and it helps enough where I can at least sleep.
