It was brief (less that 1 minute, involuntary) and afterward she appeared dazed and disoriented with a fixed stare. I reported to her neurologist my suspicion's of seizures, two days later came to me and said, "I am here to confirm your diagnosis and am starting your mother on seizure medication today.
I became primary caregiver for my mother in her late 70's. She is now 82, suffering pharmaceutically induced dementia, delirium, and recovering from a broken hip.
