    • Close Bipolar Disorder

My husband of 15+ years- just diagnosed (6/07). b4 the diagnoses, he was 'fine', w/ few tendencies. He took 9 mg Invega daily. Update: He no longer takes invega, but he does take Cymbalta, for depression UPDATE: HE NO LONGER TAKES ANY MEDICATION AND HE IS DOING FINE!!

    • Close Coma

I was in a car accident when I was 16. (passenger in a car w/ drunk driver) He drove off the road, car flipped and I was found in the trees w/ closed head injury. I was airlifted to a Denver, CO hospital where I remained comatose for about 8 weeks. I was read to, talked to, and treated as if I was really there. However I have no memories of this! My father came to my room, mad because he'd been told to put me in a facility comatose, to die. He told me 2 do anything, flip him off & I did!

      Treatments

      Physical Therapy Working / Worked
It was grueling, but I thank God for the doctors, nurses, and therapists at St. Anthony's hospital and rehab in Denver. My therapies ended in 1989.
      Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
In the pool, I was weightless and it's very theraputic! Being in the water made me feel normal!!
    • Open Brain Injury

7/21/88, suffered a motor vehicle accident, knocked a tree over with my head ;-), was comatose about 8 weeks. I thank God for Denver hospitals and Beth Israel Rehab Center & Winter Park Handicapped Ski Program!

      Treatments

      Physical Therapy Working / Worked
I hated it, while I had to do it; but looking back, I praise God for my therapists. They put up with a lot from me!
      Speech Therapy Working / Worked
This was hard, having to relearn how to talk and communicate. But I am as talkative as ever now (just quieter!) :-)
      Swimming Working / Worked
I was "NORMAL' when we did pool therapy. I loved the freedom the water gave to me. I could stand in the water with the fear of falling and gettin hurt!
      Group Therapy Working / Worked
We'd sit in a large circle &play group games ie 'Toss-Across' beanbag TicTacToe or pass a bagel arnd using swizzle sticks held in mouths, Was a break from reg. therapies!
    • Open Parenting Preschoolers (3-5)

Hi, I have a 4 yr old who is going on 8! Ack!

      Treatments

      Education (School) Working / Worked
My boy who will turn 5 on 9/11, just started pre-K. He was 10 days too young to enter kindergarten this year.
      Patience Somewhat Helpful
      Ya gotta have patience!!!
