A funny story for all y'all that need a good smile:

Alex and I went to my mum and dad's today. He was being a little fussy (for no reason other than he knows he can do it and get attention for it) so my mum started to sing to him. She sang "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and the whole range of childhood favorites. Alex quieted down and was attentive but wasn't happy. I held up a hand to quiet my mum (who, on occasion, can sound like a cat in a dryer). I began to sing America's "Horse With No Name" and Alex got quiet fast. ::laughs:: I told my mum that his musical tastes are far more sophisticated....and then she told me there was nothing sophisticated about Iron Maiden or the Sisters of Mercy. ::chuckles::

Today was a much better day. Though I'm totally wired now and can't sleep. Alex is cooing...and I should be too! I'm finding that every day is a new challenge and I will sometimes experience a system overload. Thank goodness for family and meds. ;)

My breast milk is beginning to dry up; I can only get at most 3 ounces when I pump both breasts. I know y'all wanted to hear that, but it's the truth. So I've switched Alex to an easy-to-digest formula. We'll see how that goes tonight.

Just trying to keep a positive attitude. Being a stay-at-home mum is a lot harder than I thought it would be. And lonely too. But I'm finding ways to occupy myself (trust me, my house has never been THIS clean!) and one of my neighbors stays home with her two children and we've become good friends.

OH! Before I forget, I officially left my crappy job! NO MORE PROBATION OFFICER EVER AGAIN! WOOT!

Seriously, I've got to catch some Z's before Alex decides that mummy doesn't need any.

Sounds like you're doing better cutie, that's awesome! Having a positive attitude can't hurt, that's for sure. A clean house never hurts either. Sorry your natural milk system didn't work out and you had to resort to formula. I've heard its just as good, so no worries eh? Loved the story about your mom's singing and her, um, less than gorgeous singing voice. I can relate, I sound like cats being run over when I sing. (ouch) Glad you had a better day dear, hang in there! (((hugs)))

You are sounding so much better sweetie, im impressed when i had lewis house work went out the window for weeks i reackon. Sounds good that you are making friends who are in the same situation as you, can be a very lonely time with just a new born. Well done for leaving the job hun. Breast feeding is a very tiring, painful and complicated thing to get the knack off, but you tried tho sweetie, they say the first 3 days of breast milk is the most important. I breastfed Lewis for the first 3weeks, but then breast and formula fed him for the next 3 months, they are really good and the closest ever to breast milke these days xxxx
