About Me
I live just outside Dublin in Ireland. I am the youngest in my family and I have 2 older brothers and no sisters. I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew. I had my first seizure at the age of 11 months and my second at 13 months. It wasn't till I was 4 yrs old that the doctors diagnosed me with having Peti mal epilepsy. I had Brain surgery 4th January 2007 and I have been seizure free since my surgery. :-)
Interests
I love to practise taekwondo. I hope to go back soon to get back into Shape. I got the all clear from my Neurologist to go back. I am now starting to learn to drive.

Close Epilepsy & Seizures
My name is Miriad. I am 27. I am from Ireland. I have had Epilepsy since I was 11 months. I had a Temporal Lobe Hippocampectomy in January 2007 and I have been seizure free ever since. I got sick of constantly having seizures and being on medication which wasn't helping at all. My Seizures were getting worse so I decided to do something about it.
Treatments
- Depakote Working / Worked
- Never worked
- Keppra Not Working
- Lamictal Not Working
- Neurontin Not Working
- Phenobarbital Not Working
- Surgery, Brain Working / Worked
- I had brain surgery and I am now completely seizure free.
- Tegretol Working / Worked
- Topamax Working / Worked
- Trileptal Working / Worked
Close Colds & Flu
Lately I seem to get colds very easily. The last cold I had to take Antibiotics to shit it as I had it longer than a week. I think my immune system is down.
Treatments
- Vicks VapoRub Working / Worked
- Works nearly ever time. I rub it into my back and chest. No side effects
- Vitamin C Somewhat Helpful
- It does help my cold. But it does not shift it totally without paracetamol.
Open Cystic Fibrosis
My newphew has CF. He is now nearly 10 yrs old. We found out when he was 6 weeks old that he had CF. We never knew it was in our family until he was born. He is a great little boy.
