When did you have your gamma knife? I had mine a year ago. I thought it was horrible and it didn't help at all. Now I don't know what treatment options surgically are left for me. My new doc is sending me to see a TN specialist in Tucson(I recently relocated to AZ) I wish I had gone for the glycerin injection instead. I would rather have a numb face. The screws to the head were horrible and I had to have it twice and they don't give you any meds except Ativan. Barbaric!!!

Close Trigeminal Neuralgia
I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia four years ago and have since been on medications to numerous to mention as well as have had gamma knife surgery once and microvascular decompression surgery twice. The last mvd surgery left me with some pretty severe nerve damage on the right side of my face. We are in the process of trying to find a medication to manage the pain
Treatments
- Trileptal Not Working
- Worked for a period of time and pain would break through
- Gamma Knife Not Working
- Was a complete mistake to have gamma knife - did not work and left me with some pretty severe side affects
- Elavil Working / Worked
- This drug is an antidepressant that is suppose to help with nerve pain. I have taken it now for about 3 weeks and it seems to be working. It makes me terrible sleepy.
