About Me
My husband is bipolar and I'm looking for some support and help for him. He's not very into finding help and answers for himself so I'm gonna help him weather he likes it or not. Heheh!

Sounds so damn familiar it hurts. While my dad is in the ICU fighting for his life, my husband decided…

Support Groups
Close Bipolar Disorder
Treatments
- Depakote Not Working
- Effexor Working / Worked
- Does well for severe depression episodes and hasn't allowed them to come back yet.
- Lamictal Too Soon to Tell
- Hubby was put on Lamictal so that he can switch off of Trileptal (stupid balance and eye issues). He will start the 50mg doses tomorrow. Not sure at what dose the Doc will keep him at. He's had no side effects yet...hopefully this will work with the Bipolar and seizures...
- Lexapro Somewhat Helpful
- I think he was on too small a dose....but it worked for a while.
- Seroquel Working / Worked
- Seems to build a tolerance to it.
- Trileptal Working / Worked
- Worked well on OCD and drinking but leaves him very zombie-like and with large memory gaps.
- Zyprexa Working / Worked
- Quick dissolvable tablets seem to work pretty well but he's only been on it for less than a week...who knows....UPDATE: he had to stop taking it because had a seizure from the interaction of Zyprexa and Seroquel, or so the ER said...
Close Fibromyalgia
Got sorta diagnosed in 2003....my doc now doesn't believe in Fibro.
Treatments
- Tramadol Working / Worked
- Baclofen Somewhat Helpful
- Worked for just a little while and now it just doesn't work at all...seems like that for me with any muscle relaxant.
- Cyclobenzaprine Somewhat Helpful
- Worked for just a little while and then just stopped working.
- Effexor Working / Worked
- Switched to this because of weight gain with paxil. Had to up to 150 but works great.
- Elavil Somewhat Helpful
- I slept too long though.
- Paxil Working / Worked
- Gained a lot of weight and had water gain. Had to switch to Effexor.
- Tramadol Working / Worked
- Works pretty well, I don't have a high from it, which is good but seem to have grown a tolerance to it.
Open Natural Disasters
Type: HurricanesLive in Nola till Katrina. We still have a house down there and I hate to think about it. Just started to fix it but I still get soooo anxious when I think about it and all the scattered friends...
Open Epilepsy & Seizures
We just found out that my husband has been having ongoing partial seizures (he was having one while he had his EEG) and that he also has a Pineal cyst.
Treatments
- Ativan Working / Worked
- calms his heart rate and lets him rest...
- Keppra Too Soon to Tell
- doc is titrating him onto Keppra and off Trileptal...he is feeling really weird, having 'thunderstorms' in his head, he's very clumsy, OCD has kicked in big time, memory loss, vision probs and glazed eyes...hope it all goes away soon.
- Trileptal Not Working
- he was taking it for bipolar disorder but it stopped working as a mood stabilizer and made him really dizzy and zombie-like
Open Families & Friends Of Addicts
My husband is an alcoholic and also has bipolar disorder. When he doesn't drink, his meds work pretty well. But that's not often. :(
