Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all:We had a very busy day today. We left this morning about 9 a.m. to go and see my …
Hello everyone! Back here on the night shift. First of four nights. Had an enjoyable time off though. Monday morning traveled to Atlanta, picked up a couple of Preston's, and now my female friends. Will try and put them in my pictures. Got to the airport and walked around. Finally after customs they arrived. Preston had a decent beard growing and was happy to see us as we were of him. Said he didn't want to come home and the whole trip now seemed as a dream. Out of the thirty plus students, Preston was the only one who spoke fluent Italian. Some of the other students got upset with him because he got free food and stuff being an interpretor. Where he was at there were Albanians doing menial jobs. They were told not to socialize with them. So what does Preston do? Said they were the nicest people there. And in August Albania has some type of yearly festival. Told Preston if he can afford the flight everything else will be taken care of. He's making plans. Talked to two of the teachers, chaparones who went and they did nothing but brag on my son. Couldn't smack the smile off my face.
Now the good news. The teachers over in Italy, and the ones who went with them on the trip, told Preston that if he came back to the states, went back to school and got certified, he has a job waiting for him back in Italy teaching the locals and surrounding villages the English language. A once in a lifetime opportunity. He was worried because he had his sights set on being an enviromental lawyer and thought I would not approve. I told my son how much I loved him and he has proven to me his worth. Anything he sets his mind on doing I will support him all I can. Just imagine how many people are becoming enviromental lawyers? He would get lost in the crowd. Being able to go to Italy and make an impact on so many people is unquestionably the thing to do. He may not become rich financially, but what he learns and does for the people over there is worth more than anything. I am very honored and proud to be his father.
So, that made my days off. Lost for words after that. I just pray that parents can be blessed with children who look not at the dollar sign, but the results they can accomplish in their lives. Hope this finds my "DS" family alive and well. Edgar Winters had a song that went,"Still alive and well, still alive and well. Every now and then I know it's kind of hard to tell, but I'm STILL ALIVE & WELL!!"
God bless y'all, James
