Hello Everyone,
I am the mother of a 16-1/2 year old son who was diagnosed with Asperger's in August of 2006, when he was a little older than 15 -1/2. His story is very similar to many Aspies with the early diagnosis of ADHD with learning "differences". He has had an IEP since 2nd grade and is now about to enter the 11th grade. He has had success in school when he puts 110% effort into it. As is the case with many Aspies, he is gifted, with his particular gift in music. He has played the clarinet for 5 years and the sax for over 1 year. Unfortunately, he enjoys playing XBOX 360 more than the instruments!s I strugggle with his video addiction daily!! Social problems exist and are only getting worse. I have tried to encourage socialization, but I don't want him to be hurt with more rejection, so I tend to let him "take the lead". He has become more withdrawn with regards to "friends". I have attempted to put him into social skills groups, but he has consistently refused. I just want him to have ONE GOOD FRIEND!! Many "friends" are not usually ALL TRUE FRIENDS. I will talk to him about signing up with daily strength, hoping that this site will offer some insight into this difficult hand that he has been dealt. Any hope/help that you can offer will be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!!!

I have to admit that I haven't been checking my messages or any blogs on this website. I just mentioned to my son that he should check out this website. I think that he will right now. He knows that he needs to interact with others, especially those in similar situations.
