Today I am going for a check-up with my Rheumatologist. I am going to tell him that I can't take the pain anymore …
(Question asked on Bipolar Board...)
So i just got back from my appointment. My pdoc forced me take meds in front of them. My choice was to take the meds right then and there or go to the psych ward. They called the psych ward and said i was coming. I chose to take the meds. The doc says my thought process is all messed up, i'm only half way coherent, although i do make good conversation and I'm manic. Wont even consider the fact that I've been given a new mental illness and says i'm delusional. now i have to go to the hospital daily and be supervised taking my meds and if i dont show up, i will be forced to go into the phosp. Is this even legal? I have a fricken' headache from the stupid meds I was FORCED to take.

I agree with the wonderful advice that's been given here, but I also wanted to reassure you that you are in no way being annoying.
You are doing your job as being your own advocate.
Always explore the information about your health care and any medicine, research, and question darling.
Question without guilt, or not wanting to "put the doctor out" with your questions...this is part of their job damn it, and if one doesn't treat you as if you are an ally in your healthcare, find another one who will.
Question Question Question your doctor.
If you get flustered in the office, make a list ahead of time.
Maybe at this moment you can only think of one or two questions or concerns.
That's okay.
Keep that list on a desk, or maybe on a coffee table in a medium wicker basket, with pens nearby or in basket.
It's nearby and handy to add to that list each time something you'd like to take to the doctor about.
At your next appointment, you'll have a list of questions and thoughts that you can share with your doctor.
That's your right, as a patient.
Educate yourself about your illness, treatments, recovery, staying well, ect.
As you learn about the disorder, and yourself...you learn to manage your illness, manage your life.
I speak from experience.
I almost gave up hope on stabililty.
But through education and lots and lots of reading, I've found what works for me.
The right medicine for me.
I an a pro active patient, and this is my part of taking responsibility for my health and my life.
Sorry for rambling on.
Best of luck to you.
