Yesterday (Wednesday October 24, 2007) I had my SECOND Lumbar Epidural injection for my Sciatica in left buttock, radiating down my left leg. I went through the normal lying down on the table, putting the antiseptic solution all over the area, numbing the site, then the needle placement. (Ouch!) This time, everything felt different. When the Surgeon placed the needle in my back, it was painful - unlike the first time! I could definitely feel it in my butt, and I told him that it hurt - and then he said, "I'm all done!" I got up off the table, and oh boy, my butt really hurt. (This is ALL on the left side.) IT DIDN'T FEEL LIKE THAT THE FIRST TIME! When I was walking down the hall to leave, I mentioned to the Nurse that I hurt, and it was cramping, and she said that it was "normal" and by the time I got home, it should be gone. Well, it wasn't!! The pain is still there, although somewhat subdued, I laid on ice pack last night, took a pain pill and this morning switched to mild heat packs. I will be calling the Orthopedic Surgeon today and see what he says. Will update you when I know something.

Oh, you made me feel the pain! I have trouble with my sciatica also....You are very brave...I don't think I can do that!

I'm so sorry that this one seemed to be more painful than the first! I kinda have a fear of that myself, because the first one went fairly smoothly. I did have alot of pain afterward however, but it subsided completely within about 2 days...and trust me, I did NOT believe the dr. when he said it will go away soon! haha But it did, so hopefully yours will pass quickly as well. I'm wishing you lots of luck!
