About Me
Registered Nurse with my BSN (background in Trauma/Surgical ICU), stay at home mom of two boys (one preschooler and one toddler), married for 12 years (to a fabulous guy), vegetarian for 24 years. My depression started after the birth of my first son (post-partum depression). I didn't take any meds, but definately should have. After my second son, it wasn't as bad in the beginning, but progressively got worse. Decided to finally seek professional help...SO GLAD THAT I DID!!
Interests
Motorcycle riding (Harleys), dirt bike riding, organic gardening with my boys, Vice Pres. of my local MOMS Club (www.momsclub.org), forensic nursing, drinking cocktails with my girlfriends, going to the beach (when I have time!), hanging out with my hubby.

Hug
I am not a member, but need to check into it. I am looking into the certificate for it right now after I finishe my BSN/RN. I am exploring job options other than the traditional RN field. I want to do more with it. I was a prelaw student for a bit when I went to UMKC, so it is something that definately interests me. Any info or advice is always welcome! :)

Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionTreatments
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- I now take 10mg in the morning, was taking 20mg and finally went down in dose. I feel like my old self again, maybe even better.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Therapy is hard work, but seems to be helping me along with Lexapro 10mg, Wellbutrin XL 150mg and Seroquel 50-100mg (for sleep and to quiet my mind at night). I am not going to therapy so much anymore, because I am doing really good right now!
- Seroquel Working / Worked
- I take 100mg at night to help me sleep and quiet my mind. Crazy dreams and dreams seem real. Groggy in the morning if haven't had enough sleep.
- Wellbutrin Working / Worked
- Added to help offset some of the side effects of Lexapro and Seroquel
Close Post Partum Depression
Had severe PPD, borderline psychosis, after my first son was born. I lived with it for about year until it went away on its own. Luckily, I didn't have it as severe with my second son. I actually didn't seek treatment until he was 14 months old.
