About Me
Hey all. I'm Laura. 18. Officially crazy. I have Schizo-affective disorder and PTSD and spent the lest 2 years in 3 different hospitals. Sucks huh? I am beginning to like life again. I have an amazing boyfriend that, coincidentally, I met on here. We are inseperable now. I am on a mission to change myself. Both inside and out. I just want to be a better person. y'know? I want to make people proud... I want to make myself proud. My future - Mental health nurse.
Interests
I love being with my friends and around animals. I am happiest when shopping or spending time with my family, who are very supportive. I LOVE spending time with Lee (who I met on this site C:)

Close Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionPart of the Schizoaffective disorder. Ranges from feeling a bit blue to serious suicide attempts. I am on mood stabilizers to help with the highs and lows.
Treatments
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- I found it a little bit patronising.
- EMDR Working / Worked
- I found it really helpful. It helped a lot with flashbacks and negative thoughts.
- Prozac Not Working
- Prozac made me more impulsive so they took me off it.
- Remeron Working / Worked
- Very effective but didn't work very well with the anti-psychotics, which I needed the most out of the two.
- Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
- I have the best family and friends in the world.
- Writing Working / Worked
- I find it so helpful being able to look back on my day.
Close Schizophrenia
I was diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder, depressive, and I would love to meet someone with the same thing.
Treatments
- Abilify Somewhat Helpful
- It worked but didn't completely get rid of the hallucinations and dilusions.
- Risperdal Working / Worked
- Sent prolactin levels up, maing my body think I was pregnant. Not nice... But they kept me on it because it works. I have a depot on the maximum dose available.
- Zyprexa Somewhat Helpful
- Worked but my weight shot up.
Open Sexual Abuse
I was 15. He is serving a prison sentance.
Treatments

- Good way to safely release emotions.
- Group Therapy Working / Worked
- Lots of it in the secure hospital.
- Music Somewhat Helpful
- We did a lot of music therapy in some of the hospitals I've been in. I liked it but sometimes music can trigger low moods in me.
- Talking Working / Worked
- A problem shared, is a problem halved and all that.
Open Self-Injury
I have self-harmed for about two years now. Often need stitches but I am working hard to reduce the severity and frequency of my self-harm.

Open Bipolar Disorder
I haven't been diagnosed as purely bipolar, but I have schizo-affective disorder and that caused me to have eratic mood swings. My main reason for joining this community is that I have just been perscribed Sodium Valproate (Depakote) and wanted to learn more about it.

Open Diets & Weight Maintenance
A mixture of unhealthy eating and anti-psychotic medication has made me gain about three stone. I desperately want to lose it but it is taking so long.

Open Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
Was diagnosed 12-06-08. Had an ultrsound scan on my abdomen looking for possible internal injuries and found the cysts by accident. Not started any treatments yet, but been referred to a gynachologist.
