is feeling OK
About Me
Middle aged Christian wife and mom of 2 grown sons (24 & 22)- We lost our youngest, who was also a twin to my 22 yr. old when he was 10 yrs. old. I'm also Mom's caregiver (she's 77 yrs. young)and has early onset (to moderate possibly) Alzheimers. We have a yr. old Lab mix named Bella that hates to get wet, just like a cat! That dog is always cracking me up!
Interests
Cooking, shopping, writing, reading celebrity gossip, and hoping to meet people that need a friend. ***The drawings appearing on my pages are compliments of my youngest son - some are new ones, other old, but I love them all! Also, I should add that I like helping others in any way I can. I understand how it feels to lose a child, but I'm fortunate in that I haven't had to deal with the death of a parent yet. I know that has got to be hard, too. Any time you lose someone close it hurts to the core.

My husband is on his third dementia medication..it is namenda and it is really helping him, he drives the car mows, 3 huge lots around our house, does most of the gardening and helps me in the house. I have health problems that keep me weaker than he is!! Good health to you..Evie
Congrats
I would like to know more about your experience with Sciatica BEFORE your surgery, and your entire Surgical experience. I hope you don't mind sharing this with me. Please privately email me with about your experience at jan76016@yahoo.com. I think I'm just about to that point. I can't take the pain anymore! It is in my left buttock and down my left leg into the left foot. The pain is almost contant and severe. Thank you !! Jan

Support Groups
Close Alzheimer's Disease
Stage: Early OnsetMom remembers us, but has problems with remembering daily events; needs assistance with daily living skills; and is slowly getting worse.
Treatments
Close Mental Challenged
One of my children was diagnosed at 3yrs. with Mild MR. By the time he finished 11th grade, his diagnosis changed to low-average with only a speech impairment. There's so much hope, never give up.
Treatments
- Support Groups Working / Worked
- When our children were in school, this was very helpful.
Open Bereavement
Type: Loss of a ChildOur youngest son passed away on May 4, 1996. He was my middle son's twin. He was the laughter in our home. Now, he smiles down from Heaven at us.
Treatments
- Crying Working / Worked
- I couldn't feel anything but shock at first, now I'm making up for lost time. It's helpful usually.
- Prayer Working / Worked
- This is what helps me the most, my beliefs.
- Psychotherapy Somewhat Helpful
- I had to do this initially, and learn how to forgive God for taking what was already His.
- Talking Working / Worked
- I didn't talk much at first, but now it seems to keep his memory more alive.
Open Caregivers
I am the caregiver for my 77 yr. old Mother. Also, currently, my husband is suffering several illnesses, and I am taking care of him. My son has a mild developmental delay, and we assist each other - couldn't do it without him!
Open Fibromyalgia
Just been diagnosed w/Fibro, and am seeking info and feel awful. My symptoms are leg cramps, especially at night, chronic fatigue, back and leg pain, constipation and bloating, migraines, and rapid weight loss - the latter may not be a symptom of this, but pretty sure the rest are.
Treatments
- Guaifenesin Working / Worked
- Helps me with a watery eyes and runny nose. I have no side effects.
- Lyrica Considering
- Vitamin B12 Working / Worked
- Not the shots, but I take a multivitamin containing lots of B.
- Relaxation Working / Worked
- Definitely helps.
Open Family Issues
Grew up in a very dysfunctional family which included my Dad's raging alcoholic behavior. Been married almost 25 yrs. but recently we've had more arguments due especially to financial difficulties and health issues. Looking at ways of improving marriage and getting our "friendship" back.
Treatments
- Family Therapy Considering
- We haven't been in years but I'm thinking it's time to give it a whirl again.
- Music Working / Worked
- Music is a coping mechanism, and a way to "shut out" daily interruptions.
- Talking Working / Worked
- The best means of working our problems out is by talking them out, instead of yelling matches or silent treatments.
- Writing Working / Worked
- I journal daily because it's secondmost important in combating side effects of the dysfunction.
- Prayer Working / Worked
- The best healer of all is our Lord, and He knows that we really do love one another.
Open Prescription Drug Abuse
I feel so embarrassed and ashamed to admit this, but I'm an addict to prescription painkillers, Lortab. I've battled other addictions in the past, and thought I had a grip and could take these "correctly" for my fibro, but here I am again, an addict. I started on them over a year ago, had back surgery, then got the fibro diagnosis. I'm about to tell my Dr. the truth.
Treatments
- Narcotics Anonymous (NA) Working / Worked
- Been through this and through AA before, and they work very, very well.
- Residential Treatment Center Considering
- Successfully "cleaned up my act" years ago, now I may be headed back to rehab.
