    • Hug

      From Rynn September 18, 2007

Just wanted to send you a note of encouragement - I think it will get better (not normal but better) when you find the correct type of meds and dosage. I was on Provigil for years and switched to Ritalin. It is better for me...but you have to find what works for you. If you look through other posts, seems like everyone eventually finds what works best for them- but you have to pursue with your doctor. If you don't like your doctor, find another one!

    • Close Narcolepsy

Diagnosed yesterday, 5/29/07, w/ narcolepsy. Just trying to educate myself on the condition and the best way to deal with the challenges.

      Treatments

      Provigil Somewhat Helpful
Helpful, but doesn't eliminate the fatigue and on my bad days, I still have to get my nap.
      Doxepin Not Working
supposed to help me get restful sleep at night, but can't see any improvement after about 3 mos.
    • Close Depression

Dealing w/ depression for many years. Has been under control w/ use of Effexor. Recently experiencing increase in depression issues due to symptoms/problems associated w/ narcolepsy.

      Treatments

      Effexor Working / Worked
Used prozac and wellbutrin in the past. Neither was very beneficial. Effexor has definitely been the most beneficial. No sig side effects.
      Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
I always try to keep a possitive attitude, and place a lot of faith in God. At the deepest of my depression, it was difficult to think of anything positive, but thankfully it's been a long time since I've felt that hopeless.
Support from Friends & Family Somewhat Helpful
Support of those around me always helps. While it doesn't eliminate depression, it certainly helps me cope. My partner is ultra supportive.
