About Me
I was diagnosed with Cancer of the right tonsil with one encapsulated lymnph node on right side of the neck during the first week of January. I am an attorney, with a wife, two kids, a mortgage and 2 car loans. I have never been sick before and this was a real shock. I exercise and eat right and did not smoke.

I too had this condition--left side for me.I DO know how difficult it is and that my life has been altered. I am two years post treatment and still cancer free. Bless you,hang on--sending out good thoughts to you.

Close Head and Neck cancers
Type: ThroatI have had a persistent cough for about a year. My wife complained about my bad breath which she attributed to coffee. I had a tonsilectimony the day after Xmas 2006. Cancer was confirmed. I completed 39 sessions of TomoTherapy (radiation that is targeted). Chemo was every week on Fridays after radiation (Monday - Friday). I have Chemo every 2 weeks until mid October.
Treatments
- Radiotherapy Working / Worked
- TomoTherapy targets the lump and the machine is recalibrated so healthy tissue isn't affected as much. Tumer shrunk within 3 weeks and is gone.
- Surgery Working / Worked
- It was hard having a tonsilectimony at age 52.
- Chemotherapy Working / Worked
- I am particpating in two clinical trials. One trial is completed (UHHS). Too soon to tell whether it is working.
