hey there... after seeing a psychologist for around six months, I was referred to a psychiatrist to discuss a possible diagnosis of ADD. I was pretty much written off straight away as having depression and I was so convinced I had ADD I haven't been able to face going back to see her. I'm so worried I'm going to be misdiagnosed as some of the symptoms of ADD overlap the symptoms of depression. I'd be really grateful if you could outline your symptoms as an adult with ADD... I hope you find some answers to your questions soon... I can TOTALLY sympathise with the confusion!

i think maybe i can understand how you feel. mind if i ask what kind of symptoms you have? i don't have a formal diagnosis yet, but i think i might have inattentive ADD too. my doctor just put me on wellbutrin today as an antidepressant and also because it's used for ADHD.

    hi nanner43.
My name is Christina, and I am blessed with adhd.

I think I can help you.
I know what it's like to be newly dx'd and not have a clue what to do. I belong to a couple of support groups and ADDA. I see people all the time, they come to the meetings and tell us that they are new to knowing about adhd. Anytime someone at a group meeting says they need help, anyone of us will help, even if it's lending a shoulder to cry to.
Not that I have too much time to write today, but I can assist you if you'd like. There are many places to get reliable information on add.
Within the past two years of getting diagnosed-
my sister was dx'd first with adhd and a learning diability, she was 27 at the time if I remember right. After I started treatent and went to my first meetings, I shared what I knew with my mom. She was dx'd at age 51, with add innattentive type. I had talked both of my parents into going to our groups adhd awareness event, and while there, my dad who is 56 was told he's adhd when he was in one of the workshops.

It sucks in a way, and it doesn't.
For me, it was wonderful to know that I could do something about my symptoms, or at least I have an idea which direction I could go in to improve myself and my life.
I have 2 other friends who have joined this community, one of which is also leads the group discussions and topics from time to just as I do.
If I can't find you help in or near your own hometown, my friends and I can be here for you when you need us, even if it's just chatting online.

Keep in touch- and take it one day at a time. Hugs to you!
