I have Ulcerative Colitis, SLE (lupus), Good Pastures Syndrome (1990), Bowen's Disease and Primary Biliary Cirrhosis (liver disease). I had total kidney failure in Jan. 1990, a transplant in Mar. 1993, return of Good Pasture's Syndrome in 2000, Kidney failure again in 2004. I am currently on home hemo-dyalisis. I cannot get another transplant until I have an ileostomy because of the very high risk of cancer with the anti-rejection drugs.
Open Goodpasture Syndrome
I had kidney failure in 1990. The doctors thought the cause was the lupus but later diagnosed me with Good Pastures Syndrome. I had bleeding in the lungs too. I had my lungs drained & was on a respirator. In 1993 I had a kidney transplant (sister) which was a great success. The doctor siad it was highly unlikely I would ever get GPS again. It returned in 2000 but was discovered early enough to get treatment and save my transplant but in 2004 it failed and I am currently on home hemo-dialysis.
Treatments
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Plasmapheresis Working / Worked
- exchange of white blood cells.
- Cytoxan Working / Worked
- not pleasant, nausea, hair loss
Open Lupus
I was diagnosed with SLE in 1988. It is in remission right now but I had a horrible time while it was active.
Treatments
- Cyclophosphamide Somewhat Helpful
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Was given 2 separate 1 gram doses. My face blew right up like a moon.
