Monday 21st am (just) - thought I'd better write something about the saga of the car - seemed to be misfiring last week, so called a friend who has just set up his own garage, and he said he would have to take the engine to pieces to see what the problem was, but he thought it could be serious! This was Wednesday last week, and got a phone call on Thursday to say that things weren't so good - needed new bits and valves reground, etc - making a nice round total of nearly 2000 Euros (about 1600 GBP or 3000 US Dollars) Not welcome news. There goes this months budget in one swoop! After a bit of consideration we decided to go ahead and get it done, on the basis that there will be several years without any further mishap - there had better not be! Our friend has given us his car to run about in until it is fixed - which he reckons could be tomorrow pm - will wait and see.

Had a good weekend - went out for a "traditional Sunday lunch" to a bar on the sea front - Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, and three veg! Didn't have any room left for a pudding. Even in Spain you could still maintain a very english life style if you wanted too - but it isn't our "cup of tea", but sometimes it makes a nice change. There was supposed to be some live music - a jam session - but there were only two blokes - who were setting up and winging about all of the immigrants coming into the UK - Reality check - english people living in Spain - what does that make them then? So we didn't stay, but went for a stroll along the beach instead. Just a short stroll as it is getting to the stage where doing anything in the afternoon is difficult because of the heat. Summer is well and truly here. Loads of people on the beach too - very mixed bunch, German, Brits, French, Dutch and Spanish too!
