Close Sexual Abuse
From the ages of 4 to 13, I was sexually abused by 2 of my brothers. At age 14, one of my brothers told my parents about the abuse (I am grateful becuase I may have never told). Over the past years I have been seeking healing, which I have recieved in measures. The abuse has greatly affected almost all aspects my life. Here I am.
Treatments
- Writing Working / Worked
- Writing can be very helpful. I talk to God about my pain and what I am feeling. Then I let Him respond & write down what He speaks to my heart, which brings much healing.
- Group Therapy Working / Worked
- It has been great to talk to people with similar experiences. I have never had that kind of support outside of the family before. It's wonderful & brings fresh insight.
- Abuse Counseling Somewhat Helpful
- Somewhat helpful. It was hard for me to share in depth my pain with someone who had not gone thru something similar to what I have. It was very good for surface issues.
- Talking Working / Worked
- Having supportive parents is very helpful, especially during overwhelming, emergency times - which seem to happen often when dealing with this kind of issue.
- Prayer Working / Worked
- Talking to God (journaling or speaking) is very helpful. He knows all my pain and fears and everything that I have gone through. The best comfort is found in Him.
- Meditation Working / Worked
- Reading aloud the Word of God shines light into the darkness (something to be done often). It brings truth and real healing.
Close Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Treatments
- Acidophilus Working / Worked
- Just started. Seems to be helping if I take it before each meal.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Somewhat Helpful
- Helps to stay away from meats and excess sugar and also MSG (Monosodium Glutamate)
- Aloe Vera Working / Worked
- Helps soothe the digestive tract.
- Talking Working / Worked
- As soon as I get symptoms of IBS, if I go back & talk about my feelings, usually ones that were stuffed, I'll sometimes find relief.
- Probiotics Working / Worked
- Helps to naturally regulate the digestive tract.
