About Me
I have worked in the public relations field and also taught high school drama and English. I have one child who is 23. She is in graduate school in New York. I currently am not working but hope to again at some point. I have good family support.
Interests
I love travel and reading, though it's sometimes hard for me since ECT. I enjoy the theatre very much--broadway; opera, the symphony, etc. I love going to the mountains and I'm a "Law and Order" fanatic.

Close Bipolar Disorder
I was diagnosed just more than 10 years ago after a half-hearted suicide attempt. I was also cutting at the time and was severely depressed. I was treated with medication and eventually ECT. My psychiatrist says my BP is treatment resistant so I have been on a number of different medicine regimens. I have fewer manic episodes than depressive ones. I had a really bad episode after ceasing to take my medication a couple of years ago and wound up back in the hospital for more ECT.
Treatments
- Depakote Working / Worked
- I guess it works. When I stop taking the meds I end up in a mixed state alternately manic and depressed. Side effects difficult to manage when I resume meds.
- Trileptal Working / Worked
- Also is a good addition to my bipolar cocktail
- Talking Working / Worked
- Have seen the same tdoc and pdoc for more than 10 years. Both saved my life. I can tell them anything.
- Lithium Working / Worked
- Taken it for 10 years. Is working but ruined my thyroid.
- Risperdal Working / Worked
- Mirapex Working / Worked
- Helps the antidepressant.
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- Don't know if it's working yet.
- Xanax Working / Worked
