Doctor Says Mood
Friday, July 25, 2008
So, I saw the doc. again today. The good news is I don't need brain surgery (which I would if I had Cushing's Syndrome). But I have both Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Adult-onset Nonclassical Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia. That's a mouthful, huh? The ANCAH is genetic- common in Eastern European jews- which is 75% of my family. Both my grandparents on my mom's side and one of my grandparents on my dad's side has that heratige. One of them moved here from Germany and one is first generation to be born in the US. The good news is while it's not curable, it is treatable. I've been started on Metforman and in october when I'm home on break the doc.s going to start me on birth-control.
