    About Me

    I am 33 years old and the mother of a 12-year old girl (going on 30!) and a 7-year old boy. I have been a stay-at-home mom since my son was born. October 2006 I filed for divorce from my husband-married for 6 years, together for over 11. I got sober June 26, 2006 (alcoholism). I wasn't happy with how my life was and had been drinking to numb the pain of his infidelities, verbal/emotional abuse, and my past failures. He didn't want to be honest with me or change his behavior.

    Interests

    Finding out WHO I am :) I love volleyball, but haven't played in YEARS. I also like to read, travel, and work in my yard.

      Couples Counseling Not Working
      He went a few times and then had "other" things to do.
      Psychotherapy Working / Worked
      I've been seeing the same counselor for 6 years. I suffered from depression (gee..I wonder why? LOL!). She's been great--it saved my life!!!
      Support Groups Working / Worked
      I've been going to AA 5-7 times a week for over a year now. What a FABULOUS support group! They kept me sober AND sane.

      I have a sister, uncle, and father that have all been in recovery for over 20 years. You'd think that I'd know better! I knew that when I started drinking "alcoholicly" 4 years ago that it was unhealthy, but I didn't know how to deal with the pain of my failing marriage and subsequent depression. I finally got sober 6/26/06--without my husband and I'm now going through a divorce--Yaye!

      Treatments

      AA Meetings Working / Worked
      90 meetings in the first 90 days gave me a great foundation. I have a sponsor and go to 5-6 meetings a week now. I have two women's meetings a week--my favorite!
      Prayer Working / Worked

    • Open Parenting Teenagers (12-18)

      My daughter will be 13 at the end of August. UGH! Since summer vacation started she made a profile on MySpace saying she was 14 (after I told her she couldn't) and had "suggestive" pictures of herself on her cell phone! GASP! Needless to say...I had a talk with her and I'm now on her like white on rice :)
