Journal Entry for October 26, 2007 Mood

I would like Doug to help The Ronald McDonald House(RMH) charities. I never knew what those "chained plastic boxes" on the counters really meant until our grandson, Logan was born at Duke Univ Medical Center(DUMC)in Durham, NC-4 months premature at 23 weeks on Feb 25,2005. My daughter stayed in hosp that evening and as she was told her baby probally wouldn't survive, she was discharged. We acquired a reduced rate hotel room for that night near the hospital. While waiting in the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit, several things going on at once one lady tells us about RMH and says Logan's parents qualify, if they have a room available. That was their home  until the 3rd of September,2005. Many things you may not know about RHM, they do not require  any monies for a stay. If one is able a $10.00 donation is accepted nightly, but no records are kept as to who pays or not. The RMH also runs a free shuttle to and from DUMC. There are daily groups or organizations that prepare dinner each evening for the families. One night a week McDonald's feed everyone. You can read all about the accomodations but it will not tell you, RHM gives phone cards, gift cards to help these families. Doug, when a family is at the bedside of their sick or dying child, housing and food are the last thing on your mind. RMH provides more than that , they provide a peace of mind. I could write 1000's more words of the "little things" but I think you get the picture. The monies to RMH go far beyond words. Every thing a family needs during a tramatic time is met, please help Ronald McDonald House at 506 Alexander Avenue, Durham, NC 27705"THE HOUSE THAT LOVE BUILT" help someone24/7-365.

Bless you for your charitable heart and your work at DS
