I got the worst news last night, but to put in context, I have to backup first. My first child was a son and he died when he was two weeks old, then I had two daughters and a couple of miscarriages. When I got pregnant with my youngest and found out he was a son, I was so happy. All through the pregnancy there were problems, I kept getting dehydrated and the baby wasn't growing as well as he should, but finally he came and he was perfect, then I found out I had cancer and the tumors in my uterus were what was fighting my baby for nutrients, so I ended up having a hysterectomy, going through chemo, etc. My son is wonderful he is both intelligent and athletic. When he turned sixteen, he got his GED, went to job corp and finished an eighteen month program in four months and decided to join the Army National Guard (he wanted to be in the military snce he was 2) He also got an eighteen year old girl pregnant and had a son who is four months old. He finished infantry training and came home two days before mother's day. He went to drill this weekend and found out that he is going to Iraq in February as a military guard at a prison camp. He will just turn eighteen in August and I am absolutely devastated. He is supposed to be there a year and a half.
Sorry to hear about your son having to go to Iraq.this must be a parents worse nightmare. My oldest is getting ready to turn 17 and I have voiced concern and even discouragement towards the military.I hate even saying that because I was a military brat growing up.My dad retired from the air force. But as a mom, with whats going on.I will keep you and your family in my prayers.I know you will miss him.God will watch over him.Take care....angie
